Another day without new content from J.K. Rowling. We’re now at a point in these twelve days of Christmas where we’ve had more new moments than new articles from Jo; we were ahead in the beginning and yesterday we broke even. However, I’ve chosen to not be irritated by this today. Instead, I’ve chosen to enjoy this moment for what it offers: a gift of galleons, a Chocolate Frog Card and a few bonbons. Even greater than that, this moment features a snippet of narration from the audiobook, which is always enjoyable.

Today’s moment, called Splinched. is from the chapter in Half-Blood Prince when the sixth-year students begin lessons in “Apparition”. Today, I myself was given a lesson in spelling. I don’t know when it started, but some time after the last time I read the book, I began spelling that noun wrong. The verb, to apparate, I spelled correctly, but I assumed when adding the suffix -tion, you would simply drop the E and add -ion. Instead, apparently (as I learned today), you change the A to an I and add -tion, producing “Apparition”. This is probably spelled correctly several times in the books, but I’ve simply not re-read them recently enough to remember. I guess I need to re-read them soon!

How did I discover my spelling error? Well, because Apparition is the answer to today’s riddle! I received the error message “Try Again…” several times before I got the spelling right and gained access to today’s moment. Here’s the riddle:
