Scholastic, the US publisher of the Harry Potter novels, unveiled the sixth and penultimate cover artwork for the 15th Anniversary editions yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con. The new cover for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince portrays Harry and Dumbledore, as the original US cover does, but the setting appears to be outside the cave rather than inside. The new Half-Blood Prince cover is shown below.
The previous five covers are shown here.
For fans of Mary GrandPre, the illustrator for the original editions, you needn’t worry: her artwork will remain on the hardcovers. However, this new artwork by illustrator Kazu Kibuishi will replace the paperbacks. The new covers are intended to cater to a new generation of Harry Potter readers.
The new cover for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will debut at a birthday party Scholastic is throwing for Harry in New York City on July 31.
