Telltale’s Game of Thrones: Episodes Two and Three Released

Well that happened quickly. Either that, or my life was too busy to notice how much time had passed. Probably the latter.

Telltale’s Game of Thrones video game is actually a six-part episodic game series available for Mac, PC, PlayStation, Xbox and iOS. Episode One, Iron from Ice (which I have played and reviewed), was released on December 2nd, 2014. A mere two months later, on February 3rd, the second episode, The Lost Lords, was released. Less than two months later, on March 24th, episode three, The Sword in the Darkness, became available for download. So now I’m two episodes behind.

Because I have not played the two new episodes yet (I’m still reeling over –spoiler alert!– Ethan’s death and can’t bring myself to pick up the controller, you guys), this is not a review article but merely a statement that they’ve been released. A news article complete with trailers for both new episodes and images from the newest, or third, episode.

Trailer for Episode Two:

As for me, I’m most excited to visit the new locations shown in the trailer: The Wall and Meereen. Obviously, as I learned from the previous episode, I know that I won’t be able to fully explore those locations as one would be able to in an MMORPG, but still, being able to “feel like I’m there” (despite the painted quality of the graphics) will be pretty awesome.

Trailer for Episode Three:

All I can say is: WHOA, DUDE, THERE’S A DRAGON. Also that there appears to be a lot more action/swordplay than in the previous episodes, at least as far as this trailer shows, so that will be pretty sweet. No new locations, though.

Images from Episode Three:

It’s amazing to me how the graphics for the game look like brush strokes, and yet, the characters, especially Cersei, appear so lifelike. It doesn’t hurt that they’re voiced by the actors who portray them in the TV show besides.

Have you played these two newest episodes yet? If you have, share your thoughts in the comments!
