More New Content on Pottermore: Here’s the Answer to Riddle #2

Three hours and twenty minutes ago, another new moment from Half-Blood Prince found its way onto Pottermore. In order to access it, like yesterday’s moment, you need to solve a riddle. Today, the riddle is as easy as yesterday’s, and the password is even easier. Here’s the riddle:

FestiveSurpriseDay2

It’s obviously Diagon Alley, and entering those two words granted me access right away. Once the moment is revealed, you see Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes from the inside, with Harry, Ron and Hermione looking out the window to see Draco Malfoy sneaking away on the outside. When you zoom in (double-click) twice and hover over two separate places on that window, you’ll unlock two new articles by J.K. Rowling. Unfortunately, one of those articles is not the new content that we’ve been promised about Draco Malfoy, but what we were given instead is, I think, just as awesome. Jo gave us seven paragraphs about The Leaky Cauldron and three paragraphs revealing a ghost plot concerning Florean Fortescue, who Rowling says died for no reason—simply because she planned more for him and then scratched those plans.

I am thoroughly more excited about these two new articles than I was about yesterday’s new article, which seemed a let-down after all the hype. Hopefully we’re given more and longer articles every day over the next ten more days! Somehow, I doubt it, but I can hope.

This whole “twelve days of gifts” campaign from Pottermore seems to be doing well to get visitors to their website every day, but it does make me wonder: does this mean that they’re planning to only release twelve moments from Half-Blood Prince, just as they only released twelve moments from Order of the Phoenix? I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: releasing only twelve moments per book after releasing an average of 40 per book seems either very suspicious (like they have something else up their sleeves) or very ridiculous (unfair to these last three books).

Today’s new content has been added to the “Pottermore Index”. Check back tomorrow for more news!
