Tumblr Reacts to “Fantastic Beasts”

Tumblr. n. The ultimate place where fandoms collide and often explode with “all the feels”.

Following Rowling’s announcement regarding a film series about Newt Scamander, the Harry Potter fandom did just that: exploded. with. all. the. feels. Many posts have been simply reactionary, like this one, or this one, OR THIS ONE. However, in the two days that have followed since the announcement, Tumblr has settled down a bit and has gotten its creative juices flowing. Here are links to my three favorite of these creative posts.

Characters Known to Be Alive in the 1920s

I love this fandom. Why? Because it is so thorough. I suppose this stems from J.K. Rowling, who is herself so thorough that she gives all of her characters birthdays and deathdays and every other day in between. Someone has actually done the research on which characters within the wizarding world are alive during the 1920s and has made a list, detailing which characters we are likely to see in these films. It is, in short, fascinating.

A GIFset Showing What It Might Look Like

This post is my favorite. Not even my favorite post of these three, but my. favorite. post. Period. The end. Goodbye. I can’t. Words cannot adequately express my feels for this post in particular. I am do done.

The caption underneath the gifset reads:

I have visited lairs, burrows and nests across five continents, observed the curious habits of magical beasts in a hundred countries, witnessed their powers, gained their trust and, on occasion, beaten them off with my travelling kettle.

This is, of course, taken from the Introduction to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander. And now, having just re-read that, I desperately want a scene in the movie featuring Newt Scamander beating off a magical creature with his travelling kettle.

If I run across more posts that I like, I’ll update this article, so keep checking back for more. You are also welcome to add more links to the comments!
